About 1,200 people attended the Happening last year, which was held in the Monroe Civic Center's conference hall. This year's event will take place in the civic center's arena.
Tech President Dan Reneau and Athletics Director and head football coach Derek Dooley are will speak at the annual event, which attracts more than 1,000 alumni and friends of the university.

Reneau will discuss various plans for the university, such as the upcoming construction of Research Park and the direction of athletics. Dooley will focus on the football season, including the upcoming Aug. 30 home game against Mississippi State and give a glimpse of the exciting plans for a new athletics complex.

“Alumni are really excited to hear about the university and the upcoming football season,” Richard said. “Guests will also see pictures previewing the new tailgating pavilion and other tailgating plans.”

The broadcast will begin at 7 p.m. with remarks from President Dan Reneau and Athletics Director/Head Football Coach Derek Dooley beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. Log on to www.latechtv.com to watch the event live.
